Love.
Love, I believe is a very strong word and if you know me personally you would know it is a word I rarely say except I mean it. The people I love in my life understand the full concept of love. I find it very difficult to love people (no, I do not have trust issues). The past couple of weeks I have engaged in various conversations with different friends and I found that we can all have different definitions of what Love really is. Many believe God is Love. However, whilst having a belief that there is a God and He loves you unconditionally. I was having a conversation/argument about what Love should be and the idealisms of what should be expected in a friendship relationship. My friend and I came to the conclusion, there are different types of friendships. We both agreed that there are two type of friends that we have encountered in our lives. There are “seasonal friends”; I believe this category of friends are friends that have been placed in our lives for a short period of time and you probably might only encounter them when they actually need you. In my short 19 years on this planet I have come across many “seasonal friends” and I have learned a lot about this category of friends. I have learned that they never contributed to any part of my life, yet they took advantage of my talents/ skills, at the end of the day they claim they “love me”. The other category of friends we came up with are friends that are consistent in your life, these friends don’t care what you might have said or done and they will love you unconditionally. I rarely come across friends that have accepted my weirdness, my yoyo behaviour and I appreciate you guys!
Unto the more interesting part of this post, I believe majority of teenagers today think they are in “love” when in actuality they are just attracted to the person or just in “like” with someone. My big question is How in the world do you know when you are in love?!Personally, when I think about what love is or should be. I dont think anyone has an automatic instinct where a light bulb lights up and we think “I’m in lurrvvvvee”, nope! I think we grow to love someone and when you’re in love you will know. When someone loves you they should love you regardless of anything they might do to hurt you. So, I do not understand when people say they love each other yet they break up with their other half because they might have made a mistake. People always ask me; “why aren’t
You in a relationship?” And I recently realised I haven’t given anyone a true answer. Well, the answers to that million dollar question are listed below:
▪I am guarding my heart, I am very careful about who I let prance around in my life
▪I am too lazy for a relationship now, to make a relationship work it can really be time consuming. Currently, I even find it difficult to keep in touch with my close friends. What more a romantic relationship?
▪I enjoy my own company a lot
▪I want to be in a relationship in the hopes that it leads to marriage. I don’t believe there’s any point having a short term relationship. It just causes a lot of pain.
▪Finally, no potential guys have approached me!! Most of the guys I know are friend zoned/brother zoned! .
You probably just read this post and thought “the silly girl didn’t even answer the question!” Alright, hold your horses! I have been on a philosophical quest in search of the meaning of what love actually is about (nope, I actually haven’t). In the past few months I have seen many of my friends fall in love and out of love (is that even possible?!). Finding from people “in love”, Love is indescribable. So, we all have our definitions of what love is actually like. I believe love should be about loving yourself and learning to forgive yourself. Because, I don’t think it is possible for you to claim you love some one when you are still broken and carrying a lot of baggage. To end this post, I will patiently wait for whom my destined love is . Until then, love and forgive.

Eni
